The Teatret del Serrallo has launched a participatory initiative to recover the memory of the former Fishermen's Guild (Pòsit de Pescadors). Under the name 'Fem Memòria', the venue aims to collect anecdotes, experiences, and memories, as well as graphic material related to the social and cultural activities that took place in the old Pòsit. This campaign is part of the special activities that the Teatret is organizing throughout this year to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its recovery. People who wish to collaborate can do so by sending their testimonies via email or WhatsApp voice message.
The objective of the 'Fem Memòria' project is to compile testimonies from people both from the Serrallo neighborhood and from the rest of the city who participated in the social and cultural activities that took place in the old Pòsit until its closure in the 1980s. "With this initiative, we want to recover the memory that is currently alive in all those people who were linked to the space in its different forms, since the Teatret was previously a school, a leisure center, a social club...", explains the head of the venue, Sandra Coloma.
The Teatret del Serrallo reopened its doors as we know it now in July 2016 with the clear intention of becoming a welcoming space for social, cultural, and associative activity not only for Tarragona's maritime neighborhood but also for the city and the entire territory. In these last 10 years, the Teatret has transformed into a cultural reference for the city with a careful musical and family-oriented program, but above all as cultural and associative support for the different welcoming actions that have been carried out in the venue.
"The Teatret as Teatret celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, but as a cultural and social venue, it has many more. With this project, we want to look at the past to know where we come from and thus keep present the legacy that this iconic space carries on its shoulders," says Sandra Coloma. She adds: "We do not want all this memory to be lost, which is why we have launched this initiative, which is above all a tribute to the space and to all those people who gave it life for so many years."
People who wish to share their memories, experiences, or anecdotes related to Teatret and the old Pòsit can send their stories in the format they prefer by sending an email to elteatret@porttarragona.cat or sandra.coloma@cemapt.cat; or by sending a voice message via WhatsApp to 682 79 39 07.
