Deltamarin and Toepfer Transport presented a new, cutting-edge semi-purpose multipurpose vessel (MPP) design at the SMM fair in Hamburg. Developed as a flexible platform, the design combines great cargo flexibility with efficient cargo operations and a simple vessel concept that can be adapted to the operational needs of each client.
The new design has been developed prioritizing versatility and practical operability. The platform is designed to offer shipowners a flexible solution that adapts to different trade routes and cargo requirements.
Design criteria include a deadweight of approximately 17,000 tons, three 80-ton cranes (with the option to add up to three 250-ton cranes), a bridge at the bow, ice class 1A as an option, a flat cargo deck, a long hatch, and a large cubic capacity.
Together, these features provide great cargo flexibility and facilitate efficient cargo handling, in addition to reducing port turnaround times. The vessel is also suitable for operation in the Great Lakes.
Two configurations offer a starting point for further development according to the needs of each owner, sector, and operational profile.
The design combines Deltamarin's expertise in naval design and engineering with Toepfer Transport's market knowledge in the general cargo and multipurpose sectors, providing a solid foundation for further development in new and individual construction projects.
