The Suez Canal recorded the first transit of the 190,000-ton container ship Bangkok Maersk. On its inaugural journey through the interoceanic waterway, the vessel was part of the northbound convoy on its voyage from Italy to Singapore. "The Suez Canal has managed to recover numerous maritime services operating on the trade route between Europe and Asia. Suez Canal navigation reports show a considerable increase in the daily traffic rates of Maersk-linked container ships," reported the Suez Canal Authority (SCA).
