The Gabon-flagged cargo vessel MSCI 1 conducted an emergency beaching on 8 June after encountering rough weather off the coast of Barangay Badoc, Philippines. All 15 crew evacuated and reported safe.
The vessel, which was carrying gravel en route to Calayan Island, was forced ashore after water entered its ballast tanks, causing it to list. The Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) at around 6:20 AM local time received a report that the vessel had undertaken an emergency beaching near the coastal waters of Badoc.
Through a coordinated response involving the Philippine Coast Guard, the Philippine National Police, and local village watchmen, all crew members were safely brought ashore.
The PCG continues to monitor the vessel's condition and movements while coordinating with relevant authorities and stakeholders on refloating operations.
