D'Amico International Shipping (DIS) announced that its operating subsidiary d'Amico Tankers (Ireland) exercised its purchase option, under the current bareboat charter contract, for the MT High Discovery, a 50,000 DWT medium-range product tanker built in February 2014 by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, in South Korea, for approximately USD 15.3 million.
D'Amico Tankers expects to acquire ownership of the vessel in early November 2026. The purchase price may be slightly adjusted to reflect the actual delivery date.
Carlos di Mottola, Chief Executive Officer of d'Amico International Shipping, stated that "I am pleased to announce the exercise of the purchase option for one of our two remaining bareboat chartered vessels. Through this transaction, DIS regains ownership of the MT High Discovery, a modern Eco-MR vessel built in 2014 by a top-tier shipyard after its sale and subsequent lease in 2022, thereby reducing the company's financial leverage and break-even point."
As of today, the DIS fleet consists of 28 double-hull product tankers (MR, Handysize, and LR1, of which 26 are owned and two are bareboat chartered), with an average age of approximately 10 years.
