The Hong Kong-flagged chemical products tanker Golden Sapling ran aground on the coast of Samsun,Turkey, on 30 August after reportedly being drone attacked in the Black Sea. All the crew were evacuated with no injuries reported in the incident.

According to Turkish news media, the Golden Sapling was around 90 nautical miles from Sinop Port when it was attacked by a drone. All 21 crew members were then evacuated by a nearby crude oil tanker, the Greece-flagged Maran Pythia, and taken to Novorossiysk Port.
Golden Sapling reportedly last transmitted data on August 26 before becoming out of range. After the attack, the vessel drifted in bad weather before running aground near the Samsun coastline.
Rescue teams have arrived on the scene and are assessing the situation to determine the best approach for towing the vessel free.
The Golden Sapling is a chemical products tanker built in 1999. It has a length of 147.83 metres, a beam of 24.2 metres, and a gross tonnage of 11,951.
