SAL Delivers MV Patricia, Third Orca Class Vessel for Project Cargo

SAL officially christened the MV Patricia, the third vessel in its innovative Orca class newbuild program, destined for project cargo.

Designed for the transport of heavy lift, project cargo, and offshore and energy-related shipping, the Orca class combines cargo handling capacity with operational flexibility and modern efficiency standards.

Unlike its sister vessels MV Elise and MV Frida, which signed long-term charter contracts immediately after their delivery, the MV Patricia will initially be commercially operated by SAL. On its maiden voyage, it will transport wind power equipment for Vestas, loading in Phu My and Lvsi (Nantong) before discharging in Eemshaven and Raahe.

Two all-electric Liebherr LS 800 E naval cranes make up the vessel's main cargo handling system. Each crane offers a maximum lifting capacity of 800 tons. Working in tandem, they can handle loads of up to 1,600 tons.

With the delivery of three Orca class vessels, SAL continues to strengthen its fleet with innovative assets designed to meet the growing demand from global markets for project cargo, offshore energy, and renewable energy.
