Papenburg, Germany, September 10, 2026 – Guests can now book Carnival Tropicale, the newest and final Excel-class cruise ship from Carnival Cruise Line. With bookings now open, the cruise line is celebrating the ship's transition from concept to physical construction at MEYER WERFT in Papenburg, Germany.
Sailing from Galveston
Beginning April 15, 2028, Carnival Tropicale will bring a new level of vacation experience to Galveston, Texas. As the newest ship sailing from Texas, Carnival Tropicale will proudly display the Texas Star on its bow, honoring its deep connection to the Lone Star State. The ship will offer 4-day, 5-day, 6-day, and 8-day itineraries, taking guests to Carnival's exclusive Paradise Collection destinations, including Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale, and Puerta Maya, as well as popular Caribbean ports such as Progreso and Nassau.

Bringing Texas Spirit to Papenburg
With Carnival Tropicale bookings now open, Carnival Cruise Line and MEYER WERFT hosted a Western-themed celebration to mark the ship's future homeport and Carnival's long-standing deep connection with Texas. Leaders from Carnival and MEYER WERFT wore custom cowboy hard hats and Western attire, surrounded by Texas-style decorations, while the shipyard team enjoyed Texas-style barbecue.

New Family Fun Experiences
Carnival Tropicale, the fifth and final Excel-class ship, offers the latest features of its class, allowing guests to enjoy Carnival's classic fun at sea. One of the ship's highlights is Sunsation Point, a vibrant, multi-deck family entertainment area designed to keep guests entertained from morning to night. The area centers on Carnival WaterWorks Ultra, the most family-friendly water park at sea, featuring six water slides including SunSoaker, Turning Tides, Racing Currents, and a splash area designed for young children.
Guests can also enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including Fairway 66 mini golf, redesigned with inspiration from Route 66, various sports courts, the Treehouse Adventure Trail with rope walkways and obstacle courses, and The Vault Retrocade, a new arcade space combining classic popular games with modern video game experiences. As the sun sets, the fun continues with special evening activities and extended water park hours.
Layered Culinary Excellence
Culinary delights continue to shine at the table, with Carnival Tropicale offering The Next Course dining concept, featuring diverse flavors from around the world. Guests will enjoy Uku Lei Lei, which brings Hawaiian flair with Asian elements; Fetaccine, blending Greek and Italian flavors; and Emeril's Coastal Seafood, a refined seafood experience created in collaboration with Carnival's Executive Chef and renowned chef Emeril Lagasse, inspired by American coastal cuisine.
