The coast of Valparaíso will receive a significant flow of visitors this first week of November, with the call of four cruise ships at Puerto Valparaíso. These are the vessels Le Lyrial, Silver Cloud, Le Austral, and Scenic Eclipse, which will arrive between Monday, November 2, and Thursday, November 5, with one daily call. The schedule even includes days with more than one passenger vessel in port, which will require coordination among the terminals, supervisory services, shipping agencies, and tourism operators, with the aim of guaranteeing safety and facilitating the movement of passengers and crew.

According to the Shipping Schedule, activity began this Monday with the arrival of Le Lyrial, from the Compagnie du Ponant, which docked at 4:00 PM at berth 4-5 of Terminal Pacífico Sur (TPS) and will depart on Tuesday, November 3, at 6:00 PM. Today, at 6:00 AM, the Silver Cloud arrived and will remain in port until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 4. On that day, also at 6:00 AM, the cruise ship Le Austral will call, and on Thursday, November 5, at 12:00 PM, the Scenic Eclipse will arrive. Thus, the vessels Le Lyrial and Silver Cloud plan for at least one night's stay in Valparaíso.

The acting general manager of Puerto Valparaíso, Guillermo Crovari, stated that "with consecutive calls and days with more than one passenger vessel in port, we have paid special attention to maintaining permanent communication with the different maritime and land actors, both public and private. This prior coordination allows controls and the safety of passengers and crew to be carried out in an orderly manner, and for visitors to reach the city and explore it in good conditions."

"It is very good news for Valparaíso to continue receiving cruise ships and visitors from different parts of the world," said the Mayor of Valparaíso, Camila Nieto, adding that "this 2026-2027 season includes the arrival of 31 passenger ships, some of them for the first time in our port, which represents an important opportunity to boost tourism, strengthen commerce, and generate economic movement in our city."

The municipal head of the port city noted that "this week we will have four calls, including a double call on Tuesday (today), which will allow us to receive thousands of visitors. As a municipality, we are committed to continuing to promote Valparaíso as an international tourist destination, supporting the development of our local economy, and working so that the benefits of this activity also reach our entrepreneurs, merchants, and tourism workers."

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Mundaca, governor of the Valparaíso region, indicated that "the police are informed of this large influx of cruise ships that we will have, and therefore, we hope that the tourists who will arrive in our region, particularly in the city of Valparaíso, can precisely visit Valparaíso, get to know its attractions, visit the heritage site, get to know the tourist, patrimonial, material and immaterial offer, also visit the beaches, the coast, and have a good time. And objectively, I am also certain that both Puerto Valparaíso and Puerto San Antonio will be able to properly receive this large influx of tourists that we will have."

Regarding the arrival of tourists to the city's hills, the director of the Baburizza Museum, Rafael Torres, highlighted that "at the Valparaíso Museum of Fine Arts, we are very hopeful for this cruise season because in the previous season we had many visitors who came after calling in the city. The museum is an interesting destination for cruise tourists. We work with tour operators, and the truth is that it helps us a lot in generating audiences and international dissemination of the museum. We hope that the 2026-2027 season develops well and that people who visit Valparaíso and its surroundings by cruise ship have a very good experience."

Likewise, Cristian Mella, Seremi of Economy, Development, and Tourism, expressed that "the four cruise calls we will have this week in the port of Valparaíso are an opportunity for tourism throughout the region. We want those who arrive by sea to get to know our hills, enjoy the gastronomy of the coast, and also discover the inland valleys. The more communes that are part of the tours, the more guides, artisans, and small businesses will be able to benefit from the season. Thus, the arrival of cruise ships can generate more sales for our SMEs and more work for families who live from tourism."

Safety and on-site coordination

For this call, control and inspection were arranged, including X-ray equipment for disembarking passengers and crew, another for embarkation control, and special equipment for luggage inspection. In parallel, the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and Customs committed staff in morning, afternoon, and night shifts, and terminal personnel will be in charge of access and embarkation control. The terminal will remain operational throughout the night.

Regarding transportation, buses will be available during the day and at night for passenger transfers, in addition to a van for people with reduced mobility and some trucks for passenger and crew luggage.

Tourist movement in the city

The presence of passengers and crew in Valparaíso during these days is linked to the demand for tourism services, transportation, gastronomy, and local commerce, activities that are part of the cruise industry's value chain, which began its season on October 17 and will end on April 15, 2027, with 30 projected calls in total.
