The Secretariat of the Navy, in coordination with the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), identified an import operation at the Port of Manzanillo declaring anhydrous dextrose, originating from the Port of Qingdao, China.
The discovery was made at the Customs office, as part of ongoing risk analysis, surveillance, and strengthening of customs control actions.
As a result of the implemented control measure and the documentary feedback provided by the Manzanillo Customs, the import of a chemical substance was identified, which can be improperly used as a diluting or cutting agent in drugs, as well as in the clandestine production or adulteration of pharmaceutical products.
Likewise, the reason for the immobilization of 54,432 kilograms of USP anhydrous dextrose was updated at the request of the Attorney General's Office (FGR).
ANAM and institutions of the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to strengthening institutional capacities for risk analysis, customs intelligence, and the modernization of inspection and control processes, in order to protect national security, strengthen foreign trade, and combat possible illicit activities that affect the country.
