Between January and July 2026, Peruvian exports of trout, tilapia, shrimp, and scallops reached a value of US$214,480,954, with a presence in markets such as the United States, South Korea, Spain, France, and Canada.
This was stated by the National Authority for Fisheries and Aquaculture Health and Safety (Sanipes), an entity that recommends aquaculturists adopt preventive measures to reduce risks in the cultivation of trout, tilapia, shrimp, and scallops in the face of the possible effects of the El Niño phenomenon (FEN).
It indicated that the adoption of preventive measures will allow producers to reduce the exposure of their crops to environmental variations and strengthen the continuity of an activity that generates production, employment, and commercial opportunities in different regions of the country.
In this regard, it recommends reinforcing the monitoring of temperature, oxygen, salinity, and water quality, adjusting culture densities, and anticipating harvests to reduce risks in the face of adverse climatic conditions.
Sanipes urges aquaculturists to promptly report any signs of disease or unusual increases in mortality to facilitate an early sanitary response.
Cases related to tilapia, trout, and shrimp can be communicated to the email enfermedades.acuaticos@sanipes.gob.pe, while anomalous increases in scallop mortality can be reported to alertasanipes@sanipes.gob.pe.
