DP World Callao commenced the soft launch of its Shore Power system with the connection of the container ship CMA CGM Platinum to a 100% renewable energy grid. This initiative incorporates technology aimed at a more sustainable port operation. The system allows electricity to be supplied to vessels while docked, reducing the need to keep their auxiliary engines running. This technology would prevent over 6,300 tons of CO2E annually and contribute to improving air quality. The implementation strengthens the innovation and sustainability of port operations in Callao, aligning with international trends in maritime transport decarbonization. Furthermore, it promotes the development of energy infrastructure for more efficient port logistics.
