The District Municipality of Chancay, in Peru, approved an ordinance to regulate the creation of specialized stations for the external cleaning and disinfection of containers and container vehicles. The initiative seeks to prevent the spread of pests and pathogenic agents associated with the international movement of goods.
The measure responds to the strategic importance of the Port of Chancay as a direct connection with Asia and seeks to strengthen phytosanitary controls in the logistics chain. These actions become relevant for Latin American trade, by contributing to the protection of products and operations linked to international exchange.
The initiative also seeks to protect public health and local biodiversity, in line with international plant health recommendations. The incorporation of biosecurity measures in port operations contributes to reducing contamination risks and promoting safer and more efficient foreign trade.
