Chancay-Shanghai Route Moves USD 599 Million in Cargo Between January and August

The Chancay-Shanghai maritime route transported 141,000 tons of cargo valued at USD 599 million between January and August 2026, with 170 voyages. This represents a 13.7% increase in trips and a 33.3% increase in value year-on-year. The Port of Chancay is expanding its connections with Latin American markets, including Ecuador, Chile, and Peru, and has incorporated refrigerated cargo operations for Peruvian fruits to China. In the opposite direction, Shanghai's Haitong terminal dispatched seven vessels to Chancay carrying 4,770 new energy vehicles from China.

Chancay Expands Connections

The Port of Chancay continues to expand its connection with Latin American markets, including Ecuador, Chile, and Peru. The route also incorporates refrigerated cargo operations, such as the shipment of Peruvian fruits to China, with inspection processes aimed at reducing logistics times and costs.

Reverse Trade Flow

Trade exchange is also advancing in the opposite direction with the shipment of Chinese products to Peru. So far in 2026, the Haitong terminal in Shanghai dispatched seven vessels to Chancay with 4,770 new energy vehicles from China.
