The Supervisory Agency for Investment in Public Transport Infrastructure (Ositrán) informed port users about the technical factors that determine the operational capacity of the Callao Southern Container Terminal during a session of the National Port Users Council (CUP).
During the 94th Ordinary Session of the CUP, the concessionaire DP World Callao presented that the terminal's projected annual capacity for 2026 amounts to 2.3 million TEUs, a unit equivalent to a 20-foot container.
According to the technical information presented, the main operational limit of the terminal is related to the productivity of the 10 quay gantry cranes, which record a performance of 28 containers per hour.
It was also specified that other areas of the infrastructure, such as the storage yard and the gate area, have superior capacities of 2.7 million and 2.6 million TEUs, respectively.
The calculation of these projections considers factors such as equipment availability, cargo rotation times, and the percentage of transshipment operations planned for the terminal.
Ositrán highlighted that user councils are consultative bodies that strengthen citizen participation and facilitate dialogue between users and the regulator to channel inquiries and proposals for improving transport infrastructure services.
