US and Saudi Arabia Launch Joint Strikes on Iran-Backed Groups in Iraq
The United States and Saudi Arabia jointly struck Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq on Wednesday, marking the first U.S. airstrikes in the Middle East since President Donald Trump suspended the bombing campaign last week. Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces reported at least 20 members killed and 32 wounded. Iran rejected an Omani proposal for joint Strait of Hormuz management and claimed attacks on three tankers. Oil prices rose 4.6%, with Brent crude trading at almost $88 a barrel.
