Product Tanker Catches Fire Anchored Off Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Coast Guard responded to a fire aboard the product tanker Meghna Trader (13,000 dwt) anchored off Chittagong on May 28, 2026 at 0725. The vessel, owned by Meghna Group of Industries and operated by Meghna Edible Oils Refinery, had been at anchor for 10 days after arriving from Indonesia. All 22 crewmembers were rescued without injury. The external fire was extinguished in under three hours, though interior fires continued burning as rescue teams worked to fully control the blaze.
