Danube Water Levels Hit Record Low, Disrupting Black Sea Grain Exports
Record-low Danube water levels are restricting grain flows through Romania's Constanta port, forcing vessels to carry lighter loads and increasing freight costs. The disruption coincides with escalating Russian strikes on Black Sea infrastructure, forcing Ukrainian grain to seek alternative routes. Railway and river combined can only transport a third of Ukraine's Black Sea port capacity, according to Agrarian Minister Taras Vysotskyi.
