Indian Navy Safely Removes Unexploded Missile from Marshall-flagged Tanker
The Indian Navy successfully completed a complex operation recovering an unexploded missile warhead from the Marshall-Island crude oil tanker Olympic Life weeks after being attacked in the Gulf of Oman on 26 May. Upon arrival in Kochi, India, the Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team boarded the vessel, evaluated the warhead's location, isolated the detonation mechanism, and extracted it safely. Had the warhead detonated near large quantities of crude oil, it would likely have caused the loss of the vessel and crew, along with severe environmental damage.
