Vessel Collision at Port of Tyne Causes Crane Collapse, One Injured
A Denmark-flagged multi-purpose vessel Wind Orca collided with the Portugal-flagged container ship BG Orange at the Port of Tyne on 19 July at around 1:02 pm local time. The collision caused a quayside gantry crane to collapse onto the containership's accommodation block, displacing several containers. One person was injured and hospitalized. An investigation by port authority is underway.
