The Liberian-flagged oil tanker Baltic Star experienced a machinery breakdown off Nara in the Çanakkale Strait on 26 September. No pollution was reported.

The incident occurred while the tanker, with no cargo onboard, was en route from Spain to Tuzla. Under the coordination of the Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, the vessel was towed by tugboats Rescue-13, Rescue-17 and a pilot captain.
Baltic Star is a 2006-built tanker that measures 181.5 meters in length and 27.38 meters in width. Following the incident, the vessel is safely anchored in the Dark Harbor Anchorage Area of Canakkale.
