Storied UK Shipbuilder Cammell Laird Sold in Consolidation of Sector
The famed UK shipbuilder Cammell Laird has been sold to Balaena for approximately £150 million (US$200 million) as part of an ongoing consolidation of the sector. The acquisition includes the APCL Group's four yards: Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, A&P Type in Tyneside, and two yards in Falmouth. The consolidated company will own 12 dry docks, employ more than 2,000 people, and position itself to support UK defense shipbuilding interests.
