Ecuador identifies Guatemala and Costa Rica as strategic markets to expand its non-oil exports, driven by existing trade agreements and a productive offering with greater added value. Sectors such as processed foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, manufacturing, and technology present growth opportunities in Central America.
The Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil highlighted that both countries concentrate a significant portion of Ecuadorian exports to the region and have preferential access conditions. However, it pointed out challenges related to commercial information, technical requirements, financing, and logistics costs associated with foreign trade.
Strengthening these markets will allow for the diversification of Ecuador's export matrix and generate new international trade connections. To achieve this, it is crucial to consolidate efficient logistics chains and competitive port infrastructure that facilitates maritime transport of goods to new regional destinations.
