Ecuador strengthens maritime cargo security with monitoring systems

The export and port sectors of Ecuador continue to reinforce security measures to protect maritime cargo against the threats of transnational crime. According to the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (FEDEXPOR), investments are focused on monitoring systems, scanners, specialized custody, and other tools aimed at safeguarding foreign trade operations.

The banana sector and port terminals have strengthened their controls through technological infrastructure and stricter protocols to prevent container contamination and other crimes that affect the logistics chain. The Ecuadorian Maritime Chamber (CAMAE) also promotes actions to reinforce the protection of vessels during their transit from ports to the open sea.

Strengthening security in the logistics chain is fundamental to preserving the competitiveness of Ecuadorian foreign trade and the reliability of exports. Coordination among authorities, guilds, and logistics operators, along with initiatives such as the Secure Cargo project, will contribute to strengthening port security and the continuity of international maritime transport.
