The Alexandria Port Authority recently celebrated the start of interporting operations in Egypt with Aroya Cruises.
The Aroya arrived at the port on June 11, 2026, to kick off a series of regular visits to the port.
After repositioning to the Eastern Mediterranean recently, the 150,000-ton vessel is currently offering a series of seven-night cruises departing from Turkey.
Out of the vessel's 10 scheduled calls, eight will include interporting operations, with guests able to join the 3,400-passenger ship for cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Sailing roundtrip from Alexandria, the seven-night cruise will visit four destinations in Turkey. In addition to Istanbul, where guests are also able to board the Aroya, the cruise sails to Marmaris, Kas and Bodrum.
For the first visit of the season, the 2017-built vessel arrived in Alexandria with 2,063 passengers and 1,054 crew members. Roughly 275 guests also boarded the vessel at the port.
The Alexandria Port Authority highlighted the interporting operation, noting that the call marked the return of embarkation and disembarkation services at the port after a hiatus.
"The importance of this type of service lies in the significant added value it brings to the national economy and the tourism sector," the port authority stated.
The port authority noted that the choice of Alexandria for interporting by Aroya reflects the growing confidence of international cruise lines in the port's capabilities and facilities.
"This was done within the framework of ongoing cooperation and coordination between various state agencies to support the maritime tourism sector."
The Alexandria Port Authority added that it contributed to ensuring a safe operation for the vessel, escorting it from arrival until berthing using tugboats and pilot boats.
"Close monitoring was also provided from the radar pilot tower to guarantee the smooth and safe operation of maritime navigation," it added.
