Hwajing Travel & Tours has inked an exclusive charter with Adora Cruises to deploy Adora Mediterranea for a homeport season from Port Klang towards the end of 2026.
A total of eight sailings are scheduled from November 24 to December 14 2026, with itineraries designed for families, multi-generational travellers, first-time cruisers and repeaters, and closing with a longer one-way voyage to Guangzhou.
The onboard experience will also include Muslim-friendly meals and a multilingual service team, including Mandarin, English and Malay speaking crew, to serve Malaysian and regional guests.
The round-trip Port Klang itineraries will feature three days, 2 nights calling in Penang; four days, three nights with Penang and Langkawi stops; four days, three nights calling Phuket and a longer six day, five night sailing from Port Klang to Nha Trang and finishing in Guangzhou, mainland China.
Both parties aim to create a compelling new cruise experience for Southeast Asia — combining regional accessibility, curated itineraries, localised service, and the appeal of a contemporary Asian cruise product.
This year is earmarked by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) as Visit Malaysia – with the country seeking to attract 43m international visitors, aligning with ongoing efforts to strengthen the tourism sector as a key driver of the nation's economic growth.
Malaysia's cruise tourism is gaining further momentum as the country is hosting Seatrade Cruise Asia 2026 which takes place in Kuala Lumpur and Penang between November 16-20.
The collaboration between Hwajing and Adora was marked during ITB China 2026 through an agreement exchange ceremony between Kenny Cheong, managing director of Hwajing Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd and Jenny Ye, VP, sales, commercial operation, Adora Cruises.
The initiative was witnessed by Malaysia's tourism leadership, including Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia.
The deployment marks Hwajing Travel's third international cruise homeport initiative from Port Klang, following its cruise charter programmes with Costa Serena in 2024 and Piano Land in 2025.
It reinforces the company's role in advancing Malaysia's cruise tourism ambitions while making international cruise holidays more accessible to Malaysian and regional travellers.
Coinciding with Hwajing Travel's 37th anniversary, the Adora Mediterranea charter represents the next milestone in the company's continued expansion of ex-Malaysia cruising.
Talking about the charter, Hwajing's Cheong, said "it reflects the growing strength of China's cruise sector and our shared commitment to developing the regional tourism market. Through this collaboration, we look forward to creating a distinctive, Muslim-friendly cruise holiday experience for Malaysian and regional travellers aboard Adora Mediterranea, while working together to shape one of Southeast Asia's most memorable cruise journeys."
Adora's Ye, referenced Malaysia as an "important market as we expand our international presence, and we are pleased to work with Hwajing Travel to bring Adora Mediterranea to Port Klang."
Described by the Chinese owner as the newly upgraded 'Art Ship', Adora Mediterranea brings together Mediterranean-inspired design, international dining, live entertainment, themed bars, family-friendly facilities and immersive onboard activities. The ship has passenger capacity of 2,680 guests, 1,057 cabins, and 12 decks.
