Ponant Explorations unveiled its 2028-2029 Antarctic programme, featuring more than 30 departures across four vessels: Le Boréal, Le Lyrial, Le Soléal and Le Commandant Charcot.
The operator will run its signature 10-night exploration programme from November 2028 to February 2029. The itinerary includes accommodation in Buenos Aires the night before departure, return flights between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia, and transfers.
The programme features Drake Passage crossings and Antarctic Peninsula exploration with Zodiac landings guided by naturalist teams. Wildlife encounters include humpback whales, multiple penguin species, seals and seabirds.
Two departures will offer Christmas and New Year celebrations in Antarctica.
Ponant will operate itineraries combining the Antarctic Peninsula, Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Valdés Peninsula from November 2028 to February 2029. Three departures from Timaru will explore New Zealand's Subantarctic islands and the Ross Sea.
An optional three-night extension to Iguazú Falls is available from Ushuaia for passengers seeking extended programmes.
Le Commandant Charcot will provide access to the Weddell Sea, Bellingshausen Sea and Marguerite Bay through its multi-year ice navigation capabilities. Departures include Santiago accommodation, flights between Santiago and Ushuaia, and transfers.
Activities include Zodiac excursions, pack ice landings, hiking, snowshoeing and ski touring. Select itineraries will offer emperor penguin observations at high latitudes.
Le Commandant Charcot will complete the first full Antarctic circumnavigation by a vessel in its class. The 62-day, 60-night voyage departs January 11, 2028, from Ushuaia, covering nearly 23,000km along ice-covered coasts including the Ross Sea, Mount Erebus and Adélie Land.
Two 31-day half-circumnavigation options are available separately: Ushuaia to Hobart covering western territories, and Hobart to Ushuaia covering eastern regions.
New bookings made between April 1 and August 31, 2026 may be modified or postponed without charge to alternative departures scheduled for the same year or any earlier departure date, subject to T&Cs.
