Seabourn Encore is slotted for dry dock near the end of 2026.
The 600-passenger ship has been plying the seas since it first launched in 2017, but has yet to receive a full refurbishment. During a sailing on the 10-year-old vessel, Cruise Critic spoke with officers onboard who shared the news of its upcoming dry dock.
"We've got a dry dock scheduled the last week of November [and] first week of December [for Seabourn Encore]," said Kevin Huxham, Seabourn Encore's hotel director.
While we aren't certain of the dry dock's extent, it appears to be a light dry dock and not so much a full-on refurbishment. "It's not going to look like a different ship," Huxham told Cruise Critic. "It's still going to have the identity of Seabourn. The carpets, the curtains, the tiles, and the restaurants are getting some upgrades."
Seabourn Encore isn't the only ship in the fleet receiving a touch-up; Seabourn Quest just emerged from dry dock on June 4. Seabourn Encore's fleetmate is now sporting a revamped interior, from updated carpeting and furniture to interior redesigns, including within the restaurants and corridors.
Cruise Critic members have long noticed the ship's need for a makeover, especially in their ship reviews. Member greatcats said in their June 2025 review, "The ship is pretty worn out and needs updating."
Another member, MJSCruise000, echoed this sentiment in their April 2025 review: "Cabin was fine but very worn, carpets stained, furniture old, but in reasonable condition."
Yet there are also members like John117 who don't see an issue with the ship's decor or look whatsoever: "Contrary to some other reviewers I didn't find the ship "tired" or see any worn carpets. The decor with lots of wood is more traditional than modern but I am happy with that."
