Improving people's quality of life through the development of community-born projects that benefit neighbors is the main objective of the TPS 2026 Contestable Funds, whose fourth edition has begun with social organizations in Valparaíso, and has so far impacted over 6,500 people.
Applications can be submitted until July 17th, and as in previous editions, neighborhood associations, housing committees, sports clubs, and senior citizen clubs, among others, can participate. This year, the Contestable Funds will be awarded to three projects, with an amount of CLP 2,500,000 each.
The TPS Contestable Funds have benefited 13 organizations out of more than 120 applicants from the commune in its three previous versions, in initiatives such as infrastructure improvements in social and sports centers, or the purchase of equipment for educational and community establishments.
The novelties of this edition include the simplification of the application process, which can be done on a digital platform from a phone, where the information uploaded by organizations will be saved as they progress in their application. Along with this, procedures have been replaced by online forms, which also contributes to facilitating the different stages.
At the launch event, held at TPS to invite organizations to participate in this initiative, Cristian Rodríguez, General Manager of TPS, stated that 'through the TPS Contestable Funds, we have been able to support many social organizations in Valparaíso, get to know their leaders and the effort they make to improve people's quality of life. Furthermore, this is a project where the process is as enriching as the final objective, as it allows us to accompany applicants, train them, and transfer valuable skills that will serve them for other similar initiatives.'
Tania Ramírez, Regional Head for Valparaíso and Metropolitana of the Simón de Cirene Corporation, explained that 'in this new edition, we have the Vinko platform, which is much more user-friendly for applicants, where they will also have the complete calendar of the Contestable Funds, upload documents, submit accountability, that is, everything in one place; and of course, we will train organizations in the use of this tool.'
Representing the organizations that were favored last year with the TPS Contestable Funds, Luis Rivera, from Neighborhood Association No. 33 of Cerro Mesilla, attended. 'Thanks to this fund, we applied and were able to change the floor of an area of our social headquarters, and it turned out spectacular; it was a total change. Now we hold zumba classes, workshops, and discussion panels, so we are very grateful to TPS,' he declared.
