With the presence of nearly fifty leaders from social, cultural, and sports organizations in the commune, Port San Antonio officially launched the fourth version of its 2026 Contestable Funds.
The activity took place at the headquarters of the Communal Union of Neighborhood Councils of San Antonio (Uncosan), where social leaders learned details of this program aimed at strengthening the development of community interest initiatives.
The call is aimed at non-profit and/or public interest organizations, both urban and rural, that have current legal status, such as neighborhood councils, sports and senior citizen clubs, communal unions, cultural groups, entrepreneurs' groups, women's groups linked to sea activities, indigenous peoples, and environmental organizations, as well as unions not contractually linked to the state company, the port system, or its concessionaires.
Consuelo Cánaves, Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager of Port San Antonio, highlighted that "this initiative allows us to better understand people and the territory, to know the dreams their organizations have, and to connect in a better way to help those ideas and projects materialize."
The executive invited "all organizations to participate, because we want to reach more people and groups. Our objective is to support them so they can continue to advance and contribute to improving the quality of life in the communities."
For her part, the president of Uncosan, Solange Guerra, emphasized that "this new version of the Contestable Funds is very important because we, as leaders, feel considered and valued. At our headquarters, we are supporting those who need it, especially senior citizens, guiding them so they can present their projects. We are encouraging organizations to apply and find a way to present an initiative, to take a risk and not be left with the doubt of what would have happened if they had presented their project."
Viviana Cornejo, leader of the Llanos de Bellavista Neighborhood Council, valued the support received through previous versions of the program. "I have conducted two sewing workshops focused on women learning a trade, but also on having a space for meeting and companionship. Thanks to these opportunities, very important bonds are created among the participants, which is why the support from Port San Antonio is so relevant for the community," she commented.
Felipe Vega, representative of the San Antonio Bicicross Club, explained that his organization seeks to promote the realization of a Chilean Cup date for the discipline. "This initiative is very important for us, and that is why we appreciate Port San Antonio developing these opportunities. They are fundamental support for carrying out sports activities and other initiatives that benefit the entire community," he indicated.
In this fourth version, organizations can submit community infrastructure projects, as well as initiatives aimed at promoting or executing recreational, social, sports, and cultural activities. Applications will be open until July 23, at 6:00 PM, and both the guidelines and the form are available for download on the Port San Antonio website www.puertosanantonio.com
As part of the process, Port San Antonio has already held two training sessions that have brought together over a hundred social leaders, who have received guidance regarding project formulation, application requirements, and evaluation criteria, in addition to resolving doubts and concerns about the process.
These activities will continue this Thursday, June 25, and Tuesday, June 30, at 5:30 PM, at the headquarters of the Communal Union of Senior Citizens (UCAM), in Barrancas. The sessions are open to all organizations interested in submitting initiatives for this new version of the Contestable Funds.
"Our focus with these activities is to answer all questions that may arise and, in this way, encourage the largest possible number of organizations to apply and successfully pass the admissibility stage," assured Victoriano Gómez, Deputy Manager of Community Relations at Port San Antonio.
