Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta experienced a milestone for foreign trade by carrying out the first export of Colombian bell peppers to the United States, an operation conducted through the Port of Santa Marta, with Miami as its final destination.
Smitco, the subsidiary of Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta and responsible for container operations at the port, participated in the bell pepper export operation for Agro Peppers S.A.S., a crop originating from Valle del Cauca.
The cargo is shipped on the weekly direct service to Miami operated by Seaboard Marine, reflecting the Port of Santa Marta's capacity to handle new export operations and consolidate its position as a benchmark in diversifying agricultural cargo to international markets.
Agro Peppers S.A.S. is a Colombian company dedicated to the cultivation and commercialization of premium bell peppers, produced in technified greenhouses with high standards of quality, traceability, and sustainability.
