The Spanish company Faszina Selected has solidified Ecuador as the primary origin for its exotic fruit imports, representing 50% of its total international purchasing volume. The firm, belonging to the Frutas Antonio Group in Barcelona, highlighted the sustained growth in European demand for Ecuadorian products such as pitahaya, granadilla, passion fruit, soursop, sapote, and orito (baby banana), strengthening the country's position within international agro-export trade.
Currently, the company transports between 80 and 120 pallets of Ecuadorian fruit weekly via air, ensuring logistics times of approximately five days from harvest to reception in Europe. Furthermore, Faszina Selected indicated that imports from Ecuador maintain stable regularity throughout the year, consolidating the country as a strategic supplier compared to other markets in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. The growth of these operations also generates greater dynamism for the Ecuadorian logistics chain and the maritime-port sector, boosting activities related to international transport, cargo consolidation, storage, and connectivity with European markets.
The strengthening of exotic fruit exports represents a strategic opportunity to diversify Ecuador's exportable offerings and expand its presence in international food supply chains. Likewise, the increase in European demand drives greater requirements for logistics infrastructure, port efficiency, and specialized maritime and air transport services, key factors for consolidating the competitiveness of Ecuadorian foreign trade in high-value-added international markets.
