Fesco Transportation Group opened an office in Chengdu, China, to develop the Fesco Katyusha Shuttle rail service. This was announced by the group's CEO, Petr Ivanov, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2026.
The new office will focus on increasing Fesco's volume of container rail transport between China, Russia, Belarus, and Central Asian countries via land border crossings.
Additionally, with its in-house team in Chengdu, Fesco will oversee all stages of the logistics chain in China, from road transport of containers from shippers' warehouses to the organization of container train shipments through the Chinese railway network, including direct interaction with stations and terminals in Sichuan province.
The opening of the office will also allow the Group to strengthen its collaboration with Chinese shippers and Sichuan's state transport platforms, and expand its range of local logistics services on one of the most popular transport routes.
Currently, Chengdu offers regular container trains to Russia, including the public Fesco Katyusha Shuttle rail service, which connects the capital of Sichuan province with Moscow. The service's name is associated with the first giant panda born in Russia, and Chengdu is traditionally considered the world's panda capital.
"China has been and remains a key international partner for FESCO. The opening of a new office in Chengdu is a logical and consistent step to expand our Group's presence in China and strengthen our services on land routes. Having our own team in one of China's largest logistics hubs will improve customer service quality, expand our container shipping capacity, and ensure greater reliability in our supply chains," Petr Ivanov noted at SPIEF 2026.
Chengdu is one of the largest industrial centers in western China and a key railway hub between China and Russia. This new office is Fesco's fourteenth representative office in China. The Group's other offices are located in Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, Ningbo, Dalian, Tianjin, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Xiamen, and Guangzhou.
