The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) of Colombia reported that the National Roads Institute (Invías) will assume operation of the Cartagena – Barranquilla cargo corridor starting next July 22.
According to the ANI, the culmination of the Reversion Stage of the IP – Autopistas del Caribe project, the Cartagena – Barranquilla cargo corridor, is close to being finalized, along with the project's completion on July 21, 2026.
"Thus, Invías will begin operating the corridor along with all existing infrastructure from July 22, 2026, at 00:00 hours. For their part, the concession, the Supervision, and the ANI will initiate the liquidation process of Concession Contract No. 002 of 2021," the agency stated.
The president of the ANI, Oscar Torres, explained that "the reversion of the IP – Autopistas del Caribe project constitutes a key milestone for the proper completion of the contract and the orderly transition of the infrastructure."
Likewise, the entity highlighted that to achieve an effective and orderly transfer to Invías, between February and June 2026, within the framework of the reversion stage, activities were carried out for the delivery of the corridor. In this regard, tours were conducted to review the logistical axis and carry out the reversion of it and the existing tolls, as well as the delivery of all information required by the institute.
