Ultraport, with a presence in ten terminals throughout Chile, announced the appointment of José Miguel Fuentealba as the new manager of its operation in Coquimbo.
Fuentealba, who holds an MBA from the University of Chile, has over 10 years of experience in industrial, mining, and port environments, with a focus on operational excellence, strategic asset management, and team leadership.
"The executive has developed a career entirely linked to Ultraport, with experience in various operations across the country, which has allowed him to acquire a comprehensive vision of the port business. Before taking on this new challenge, he served as Operations Manager for Ultraport Angamos, having previously held key roles in the Arica and Mejillones operations," the port operator announced.
"Throughout his career, he has led multi-purpose operations, facing challenges associated with handling diverse cargo – such as bulk, general cargo, and projects – and managing relationships with different types of clients. This experience in terminals in northern Chile has allowed him to specialize in operational planning, asset management, labor relations, and continuous improvement processes, contributing to the efficiency and competitiveness of operations," it added.
In his new role, Fuentealba will lead a strategic operation for the productive development of the Coquimbo Region, linked to industries such as mining, the fruit and vegetable sector, renewable energies, and tourism, with a focus on strengthening safety standards, operational continuity, and service quality.
"Ports play a key role in the development of regions and the country. I take on this challenge with the commitment to continue strengthening a safe, efficient, and close operation, working collaboratively with workers, clients, and the port community," highlighted the new manager.
As part of his arrival, the executive will hold meetings with workers, unions, clients, and local authorities, with the aim of strengthening joint work and projecting the growth of the operation in the region.
