Maersk introduces rail-to-truck conversion surcharges for Canadian inland services

To support increased flexibility across our inland network, Maersk will enable the option to convert transport moves from rail to truck when required. When a conversion from rail to truck is requested, the following surcharges will apply effective July 1, 2026.

• Single Truck Surcharge (STS)
• Single Truck Delivery (STD)

Charge Description	Code	Applicability
Inland Additional Export Service	IAE	Replaced with STS
Inland Additional Import Service	IAI	Replaced with STD
Single Truck Surcharge – Origin	STS	Export single container truck moves (Rail to Truck)
Single Truck Surcharge – Destination	STD	Import single container truck moves (Rail to Truck)

Surcharge Applicability

Applies when rail bookings are converted to truck service at customer request or due to operational requirements.

STS and STD apply when the shipment is executed as a single-container truck move.

Charges:

• Applied per container
• Reflected as separate line items on the invoice
• Based on the final inland execution mode (truck vs. rail)

Not applicable when:

• The shipment remains rail-based with no service change
• Contractual terms explicitly include or exclude such conversion costs
