Portos do Paraná will invest R$ 15.72 million in the modernization and improvement of urban roads in Paranaguá. The funds will be allocated to concrete paving of sections of Avenida Coronel José Lobo and Rua Manoel Corrêa, improving mobility throughout the region.
"Portos do Paraná is committed to the development of the city that hosts port activity. While there are legal limitations for investments outside the port area, we always seek, when there is legal viability and authorization from the competent bodies, to carry out works that generate permanent benefits for the population of Paranaguá," affirmed Luiz Fernando García, executive director of Portos do Paraná.
The new pavement will provide better traffic conditions for residents, workers, and customers of local businesses, in addition to increasing the durability of the roads and reducing the need for future interventions.
Avenida Coronel José Lobo will undergo works in the section between Rua Barão do Rio Branco and Rua Manoel Corrêa. Part of this segment still retains asphalt pavement and cobblestones. Rua Manoel Corrêa will receive concrete pavement between Avenida Coronel José Lobo and the Moegão complex, including access to the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) and Ascensus facilities. Currently, the road is paved with hexagonal blocks.
"Concrete was chosen because it is the most suitable pavement for heavy traffic. This material offers greater durability and a longer lifespan. This new pavement will have a positive impact on the entire population," explained Matheus Arnoni Mendes, inspection coordinator of the Engineering and Maintenance Directorate of Portos do Paraná.
Given that the interventions will be carried out outside the area under the direct administration of the Port Authority, the execution of the works depended on the authorization of the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) and the approval of the Municipality of Paranaguá.
After the issuance of the service order, scheduled for the coming days, the contract establishes a maximum period of 14 months for the completion of the works, counted from the approval of the project.
The Paraná Port Authority is also carrying out other road improvements in Paranaguá. R$ 8.6 million is being invested in the maintenance and rehabilitation of sections of Avenida Portuária, Governador Manoel Ribas, Coronel Santa Rita, and Coronel José Lobo.
The package also includes Manoel Bonifácio and Barão do Rio Branco streets, as well as access to the Public Liquid Bulk Pier.
