A worker was killed in an accident at the Port of Hamburg after a heavy object fell on a man aboard the cargo vessel on May 29.
At around 4:49 pm local time, emergency services were notified that a ship component or structural extension reportedly fell from a height and struck the worker. The impact briefly trapped the man beneath the fallen structure. The rescue team freed the trapped worker and immediately initiated resuscitated efforts, but later was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to local media reports, the vessel involved was the Latvia-flagged general cargo ship Capella, which had been berthed in Hamburg since 28 May.
