The CSSC Jiangnan shipyard held the signing, naming, and delivery ceremony for the CMA CGM Berenice. The vessel is the fifth in the Kun series of large dual-fuel (methanol) containerships built for the French company.
With an overall length of 366 meters, this vessel is another ultra-large, new, highly efficient, environmentally friendly, and energy-saving containership model, independently developed by the company based on the design of its flagship vessel, the shipyard detailed.
At the same time, this series of vessels employs methanol dual-fuel propulsion, which not only constitutes a tangible demonstration of the increased global competitiveness of the Chinese shipbuilding industry but also fully aligns with multiple high-level national development strategies.
Furthermore, it allows for significant and gradual reductions in all categories of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions in the maritime transport sector, thus becoming another fundamental large-scale vehicle for the industry's constant progress towards the goal of achieving zero carbon emissions across the entire sector.
The delivery of the last vessel in the series is scheduled for this September.
