Safeen Drydocks, a shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance company, has secured two vessel construction contracts totaling AED 1.3 billion (USD 354 million), representing its largest agreements awarded to date.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime and Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, stated that "these contracts demonstrate Safeen Drydocks' ability to execute complex shipbuilding programs for both local and international clients. From multi-purpose commercial vessels to specialized marine support assets, the projects showcase the strength and versatility of our shipbuilding capabilities in the UAE. Expanding national capacity remains strategically important, as it drives industrial growth, strengthens the resilience of the maritime sector, and consolidates the UAE's position as an emerging regional shipbuilding hub."
The first project includes the design and manufacturing of four 140-meter multi-purpose vessels for AD Ports Group, representing one of the largest maritime vessel projects to be undertaken in the United Arab Emirates. Designed to support various cargo and logistics operations, each vessel will have a capacity for 105 passengers, 300 containers, including over 100 connections for refrigerated containers, as well as heavy and oversized cargo, and up to 1,000 cars and 100 trailers.
The second contract pertains to the construction of 18 specialized marine support units for Oilbank Logistics Services Ltd. of Nigeria, including tugboats and pilot boats of various sizes. These units will support port operations and offshore logistics in Nigeria and represent one of the largest international shipbuilding programs awarded to Safeen Drydocks.
With facilities in the United Arab Emirates and Spain, including its shipyard in Khalifa Port and the recently acquired Balenciaga shipyard, the company combines multidisciplinary engineering, modular construction methods, precision manufacturing, and a century of shipbuilding experience.
