AAL Shipping (AAL) completed the delivery of 12,000 tons of heavy equipment cargo for power generation at the Port of Houston, reinforcing its position as a preferred carrier for large-scale energy infrastructure projects serving the US market.
Originating from Asia, the cargo consisted of 195 individual units destined for a major natural gas power development project. This project demonstrates AAL's capability to deliver complex, high-volume cargo for energy infrastructure developments with tight deadlines.
The cargo was transported aboard the heavy-lift vessel AAL Kobe (31,000 DWT), an A-class vessel, utilizing its maximum 700-ton lifting cranes for fully autonomous loading and unloading operations. This capability allowed for faster port rotation, reduced exposure to congestion, and greater control over critical delivery schedules.

This delivery comes amidst sustained investment in the US energy sector. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), natural gas remains the country's primary source of power generation, accounting for approximately 43% of total energy production, while utilities continue to invest heavily in new and improved gas generation capacity to support grid reliability and balance intermittent renewable energy supply.
At the same time, privately owned US utilities are projected to invest over USD 1 trillion in grid infrastructure over the next five years to modernize transmission networks and enhance resilience.
Texas remains central to this expansion, accounting for approximately 25% of the country's total primary energy production. Continued investment in gas-fired generation capacity remains crucial for grid stability and long-term energy security.
As the size and weight of power generation components continue to increase, AAL is further strengthening its fleet capabilities through continuous investment in its Super B-Class vessels. These state-of-the-art ships offer increased deadweight capacity, reinforced decks, and an increase in tandem lifts up to 800 tons, allowing for fewer voyages and greater efficiency for large gas, power, and industrial projects.
