As part of efforts to strengthen its strategic role in the Mediterranean and consolidate its position as a gateway to African markets, the Misurata Free Zone Port welcomed the container ship Guo Zhi Hai, operated by Cosco Shipping, as part of the maritime service connecting China and Libya.
The vessel's arrival marks an important step towards establishing a new phase of direct maritime connectivity between the Far East and Libya, aiming to improve supply chain efficiency, facilitate trade flows, and reduce cargo transit times by minimizing reliance on traditional transshipment ports.
The ship has a capacity for 800 import and 800 export containers, and an overall length of 300 meters. It is part of the modern fleet of the regular service that operates twice a month, with the next voyage scheduled for June 10.
The direct shipping service was launched on May 6, establishing a direct connection between Chinese and Libyan ports through the Misurata Free Zone Port, with the aim of enhancing the flow of maritime trade and supporting import and export activities between the two countries.
