The incident occurred around 3:00 am local time while Singapore Express was en route from Rotterdam to Hamburg, Germany. As a result of the impact, Stella Polaris sustained severe damage, particularly to its wheelhouse, though the vessel remained afloat.
One crewmember aboard the trawler suffered minor injuries, while no injuries were reported among the crew of Singapore Express, which continued its voyage toward Hamburg.
Another trawler, UK 24, later towed Stella Polaris to Harlingen, where authorities will assess the extent of the damage and determine the repairs required. Local police have launched an investigation into the collision.
