The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, José Reyes Llanos, held a working meeting with DP World's General Manager, Marco Hernández, to address the main challenges and opportunities related to strengthening Peru's port infrastructure and logistics competitiveness.
During the meeting, held at Mincetur's headquarters, the minister highlighted DP World's strategic role in strengthening the operational capacity of the Port of Callao and in consolidating Peru as a regional logistics hub.
He also pointed out that the current international and geopolitical context demands increasingly efficient, resilient, and digitized ports to respond to the new dynamics of global trade.
He emphasized the need for the growth of port infrastructure to advance at the same pace as the expansion of foreign trade and new regional logistics chains, ensuring capacity, efficiency, and long-term competitiveness.
It was highlighted that port competitiveness also depends on the efficiency of logistics access and vehicle flow. In this context, proposals were evaluated to optimize the appointment system, improve entry scheduling, and reduce congestion and surcharges affecting transporters in Callao.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Cesar Llona, and the head of Mincetur's cabinet of advisors, Luis Mesías; as well as directors from DP World.
