Promovilidad and MTC Coordinate Transport Planning in Chancay Port Influence Zone

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through the National Sustainable Urban Transport Program (Promovilidad), initiated the first steps of inter-institutional coordination at the provincial level, aimed at providing specialized technical assistance and promoting comprehensive sustainable urban mobility planning in response to the development of the port corridor.

As part of this work session, the technical team and Promovilidad's executive director, Omar Gonzales Arica, held key meetings in the province to analyze the main challenges facing the territory due to the increased demand for transport, pressure on existing road infrastructure, and growing urban connectivity needs. The session included the participation of the National Autonomous Authority for the Strategic and Integral Development of the Chancay Multipurpose Port Terminal, represented by its executive director, Manuel Santiago Vascones.

During the meeting, proposals for the scope of the program's technical assistance were presented for strengthening local capacities and providing support in the formulation of management instruments. This coordinated participation seeks to articulate a preventive technical response that guides orderly, efficient, and sustainable urban development in the port's influence zone.

The importance of anticipating transport planning in territories experiencing accelerated functional transformations was highlighted, emphasizing that coordination at the provincial level allows for addressing mobility from a comprehensive perspective, ensuring the sustainability of investments and improving the quality of life of the population.

With these actions, the MTC reaffirms its commitment to provide coordinated technical assistance at the provincial level and with sector authorities, promoting strategic transport solutions that support the competitiveness and orderly development of cities.
