Between January and May 2026, the National Port Authority supervised compliance with security and protection measures at maritime and fluvial terminals within the National Port System.
With the aim of ensuring safe, efficient port operations aligned with national and international standards, the National Port Authority (APN), an entity attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), carried out 211 inspections of port facilities in various regions of the country during the first five months of 2026.
The inspections were conducted at important maritime and fluvial terminals across the country, located in Salaverry, Pisco, Chancay, Matarani, Iquitos, Ilo, and Yurimaguas, among others. During these interventions, operational conditions and the implementation of mechanisms aimed at preventing risks and strengthening the continuity of port activities were evaluated.
The supervision actions included 170 operational inspections aimed at verifying compliance with current regulations regarding port security and protection. Of this total, 86 were focused on evaluating port protection measures and 84 on supervising aspects related to operational safety.
As part of this continuous control and improvement effort, the APN also conducted 41 specialized audits, of which 17 corresponded to port protection, 15 to port security, and 9 to special port facilities. These actions allowed for verifying the effectiveness of the implemented procedures and promoting the strengthening of risk management in the port sector.
Through these interventions, the National Port Authority reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the security and protection of the National Port System, through permanent supervision and articulated work with port operators. In this way, it contributes to the development of a modern, reliable, and competitive port system that supports the growth of foreign trade and the national economy.
