Chaco: Trade of over 30 tons of fresh fruit transported without documentation prevented

During a random inspection in the Almirante Brown department of Chaco, the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA), together with the Chaco Police, detected a truck transporting 31,354 kgs. of fresh fruit circulating with apocryphal documentation from the Cainguás department, Misiones province, destined for Cerrillos, Salta.

Personnel from the agency's Chaco Formosa Regional Center inspected the cargo, which consisted of 13,284 kgs. of mango, 2,070 kgs. of grapes; 15,000 kgs. of watermelon, and 1,000 kgs of melon, and confirmed that it had labels from another country and was not accompanied by the corresponding documentation.

It should be noted that to enter the country, plants or their parts must comply with import phytosanitary requirements, and undergo documentary and physical verification at the point of entry into the country.

Considering the cargo to be a high sanitary risk, the merchandise was denatured in accordance with the provisions of Resolution ex MAGYP N°38/12.
