The National Service of Agrifood Health and Quality (SENASA), through Resolution N.º 869/2026, published today in the Official Gazette, established a general and updated procedure for the administrative authorization of the use of phytosanitary products in specific situations.
The measure addresses three situations: minor crops or uses; pests under official control; and new application methods, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), known as drones.
In the case of minor crops —including legumes, vegetables, fruits, aromatic plants, and spices—, the regulation seeks to facilitate access to phytosanitary tools for productions that, due to their smaller economic scale, may not have registered products for certain control needs.
Applications may be initiated by producer associations, chambers, cooperatives, national or provincial public bodies, universities, and research institutions via email dirabio@senasa.gob.ar and will be evaluated by SENASA.
Once the required documentation is complete, the Organism must issue a response within a maximum period of 90 calendar days. For minor crops or uses, the regulation also contemplates temporary authorizations for two years when part of the technical documentation is pending, which must be completed within that period for re-evaluation.
With this regulation, it is also facilitated that those products already registered and authorized for one crop, upon request and demonstrating their efficacy, may be authorized for other crops.
The granted authorizations will be published and updated on the Organism's official website, facilitating access to information for producers, professionals, and other stakeholders in the sector.
In this way, SENASA establishes clear rules and deadlines to address specific phytosanitary needs, with a more transparent, accessible, and agile procedure for the productive sector.
