Personnel from the Prefectura Naval Argentina participated in two international courses on environmental crime and forest fire investigation, held between October 26 and 29 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, within the framework of cooperation between Argentina and Italy, coordinated by the International Italo-Latin American Organization (IILA).

The training included the High-Level Training Course for Combating Environmental Crimes and the Advanced Techniques for Forest Fire Investigation Course, both taught by specialists from the Arma de Carabinieri of Italy.

During the sessions, different modalities of environmental crime were addressed, such as illicit trafficking of hazardous waste, illegal dumping, and pollution offenses. Criminal intelligence and investigation techniques, environmental inspections, scene preservation, and evidence collection were also developed.

Regarding forest fires, specialists provided tools to identify possible fire ignition points, analyze their spread, and determine affected areas. Additionally, satellite monitoring technologies, geographic information systems, and artificial intelligence platforms applied to the investigation and prevention of these events were presented.

The activities included the analysis of operational experiences and practical exercises, which allowed for the exchange of knowledge and best practices among participants. The training concluded with an individual evaluation and the delivery of certificates.

In this way, the Prefecture continues to strengthen the training of its personnel and the incorporation of specialized tools for the investigation of environmental crimes and the protection of natural resources.
