As part of the national communication campaign for the prevention of trichinosis, the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) carried out, between May and August, multiple awareness, dissemination, and outreach activities on the disease in different parts of the province of Córdoba.
During the meetings, SENASA's Córdoba Regional Center professionals addressed the importance of trichinosis as a zoonosis, its transmission routes to people and animals, associated symptoms, recommendations for pig farming and pork consumption, and the actions that the Organization deploys for the prevention and control of the disease in case of suspicion.
In this context, the agents presented to more than 350 people. Among the main activities, the campaign was discussed at the Pork Meat Table with more than 30 provincial and municipal officials related to the sector; in addition, presentations were given to students, teachers, and directors of primary and secondary agricultural technical schools and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Córdoba (FCA-UNC).
The presentations, held in the localities of Córdoba Capital, Río Segundo, Río Cuarto, El Arañado, Villa del Rosario, and Pampa de Achala, on this occasion included agents from the Quebrada del Condorito National Park and the public interested in the topic. They were characterized by the participants' strong interest in the subject, which generated suitable spaces for interaction and the exchange of experiences and knowledge among those present.
It is worth noting that in all instances, the topic had already been introduced by the teachers, so the students had prepared related questions, which made the meetings more fruitful.
